KNH Achievers Courses

KNH are running several courses in Spring 2013, details below.

Identifying Community Needs & Opportunities

22nd April to 24th April 2013
This course will take place at Northern College.
This course is for voluntary and community organisations investigating the issues faced by their community. It will equip you with the skills and understanding to uncover and review information to sup-port new developments. The course builds a checklist of actions that will help you to undertake practical community research.

Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering

Monday 3rd June & Mon-day 10th June 2013
This course will be held at Perseverance House and is taught by Sam Fenn.
This course will take you through the basics of hygienically preparing food, including:

  • The Food Safety Act
  • Personal hygiene
  • Your environment and equipment
  • Pest control

Health & Safety

Monday 17th June & Monday 24th June 2013
This course will be held at Perseverance House and is taught by Sam Fenn.
This course will enable learners to:

  •  Identify hazards and risks they may face
  •  Put measures in place to deal with those hazards and risks
  •  To follow any emergency procedures
  •  Undertake risk assessments for their TRA or community group

Understanding Equal Opportunities

Wednesday 19th June to Friday 21st June 2013
This course will be held at Northern College.
Do you want to understand how equal opportunity issues should be dealt with at work and in voluntary and community settings?

Better Meetings

Tuesday 25th June 2013
This course will be held at Perseverance House and is taught by Gina Hawkins from Northern College.

  •  Identify key success factors required for running successful meetings
  •  Discuss how to prepare for meetings and set agendas
  •  Identify barriers to participation in meetings
  •  Discuss effective ways of communicating in meetings
  •  Identify the role and responsibilities of the Chair and Secretary
  •  Explore ways of problem solving and meeting challenges that arise  during meetings
  •  Develop a Code of Good Practice and Ground Rules for meetings
